چکیده
There is continuous intensive research on image compression techniques in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) the literature. Some of WSNs that exist literature include discrete cosine transform (DCT), waveform transforms (DWT), set partitioning a hierarchical tree (SPIHT), and embedded zero wavelet (EZW) coding. Research necessitated by need to improve energy efficiency nodes WSNs’ lifetimes without compromising quality reconstructed data. Several approaches have been developed centered around other factors trying limit consumption nodes. Most these do not provide error-bound mechanism balances rate distortion image. Therefore, this paper, review analysis are conducted. Available were then classified according technique adopted, their strengths weaknesses highlighted. In addition, rate-distortion balanced data algorithm with error bound based artificial neural (ANN) form an autoencoder (AE) was coded simulated MATLAB before being evaluated compared conventional approaches. Routing Hole Handling Techniques for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Review
A Wireless Sensor Network consists of several tiny devices which have the capability to sense and compute the environmental phenomenon. These sensor nodes are deployed in remote areas without any physical protections. A Wireless Sensor Network can have various types of anomalies due to some random deployment of nodes, obstruction and physical destructions. These anomalies can diminish the sensi...

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...
متن کاملData compression techniques in Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) open a new research field for pervasive computing and context-aware monitoring of the physical environments. Many WSN applications aim at long-term environmental monitoring. In these applications, energy consumption is a principal concern because sensor nodes have to regularly report their sensing data to the remote sink(s) for a very long time. Since data transm...
متن کاملCollaborative Image Compression in Wireless Sensor Networks
Life time of wireless sensor networks is limited due to battery constraint. In camera equipped sensor nodes, due to battery and processing power constraints, the life time of sensor network is decreased quickly when image is processed and is transferred to the destination. Image compression not only helps to reduce the communication latency in a sensor network but also save the life time of the...
متن کاملOptimization of Energy Consumption in Image Transmission in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) using a Hybrid Method
In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), sensor nodes have limited resources with regard to computation, storage, communication bandwidth, and the most important of all, energy supply. In addition, in many applications of sensor networks, we need to send images to a sink node. Therefore, we have to use methods for sending images in which the number and volume of packets are optim...
